Students enrolling in the 22556VIC Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the
Workplace are best equipped to successfully undertake the training if they have language, literacy and oral
communication skills that align to Level 3 of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF), see ACSF for more information.
VU22927 Manage asthma risks and emergencies in the workplace
This unit of competency provides the skills and knowledge to be able to develop an asthma risk assessment and emergency management strategy to handle asthma episodes in the workplace. It provides background knowledge of the triggers, signs, symptoms and effects of asthma as well as emergency management.
This course is aimed at school teachers, early childhood workers and educators who work with school age children in and outside school hours care and vacation programs, as well as existing teachers and child care providers seeking to renew their qualifications.
Specific licensing/regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.
Reading and writing – a learner will be able to read, comprehend and write a range of texts within a variety of contexts.
Oral communication – a learner will be able to use and respond to spoken language including some unfamiliar material within a variety of contexts.
Digital literacy – a learner will be able to use a variety of digital devices and their applications/programs/software within a variety of contexts.

All students who have Certificate III qualification or below are required to undertake an LLN Assessment to identify the need for language, literacy, oral communication support and reasonable adjustment.
We only conduct this training for companies, there are no regularly 22556VIC – Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace courses held for the public, at times we can add members of the public onto these company courses when they are held at our training rooms at 1/1 Chaucer Street Hamilton NSW 2303.
Training can also be delivered “Off Site” at your premises, requirements for this are available using the Off Site Suitability checklist or can be discussed with staff by phoning 1300 151 181.
Blended training
This course can be taught as a blended option where theory is completed on line before the course and we deliver the practical at our training rooms at Hamilton or your workplace both options are subject to minimum numbers please contact 1300 151 181 to discuss.
Full face to face training
All training including theory and practical is conducted at your workplace with no pre-course learning (subject to minimum numbers please contact 1300 151 181 to discuss).
Third party arrangements
Business Wise First Aid Training has multiple third-party arrangements where training is delivered by a third party. In these cases, the booking will be through the third party’s website with course paperwork stating training by a third party and issuance of the Statement of Attainment (SOA) by Business Wise First Aid Training. The Booking Confirmation Email reflects this arrangement.
There are no prerequisites or age restrictions for this course. If student is under 18 years at the time of training a Parent / Guardian Consent form needs to be downloaded, printed and signed by the Parent / Guardian and brought to the course by the student. Parent / Guardian Consent Form
On Successful Completion of the Course, you will receive
A PDF Statement of Attainment showing you have fulfilled the requirements of 22556VIC – Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace.
The cost of the 22556VIC – Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace course is $50 per person for the blended option and $65 for the full face to face course.
It is a requirement of this course that a practical demonstration of treating a person with asthma is demonstrated, so please, wear clothes that will enable you to complete this requirement.
Blended option (theory is completed on line before attending the course and the practical training on the day of the course)
The online pre-course theory component on average takes students 2 hours to complete, some students take more time, some less time.
2 hours is allowed for the face to face or classroom component, but if the group is experienced in asthma treatment this could take less time.
Full Face to face option (no pre-course learning, all training and assessment on the day of the course)
This option is only for businesses who have a current 22556VIC – Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace qualification who are looking to renew their qualification, duration is up to 2 hours.
Once you have registered for your course, a link will be emailed to you to activate your account and access the online pre-course theory. This must be completed prior to attending the face-to-face component of the course.
There is no limit to the number of attempts at the online quizzes and no fee for additional attempts.
Students must have a digital device i.e. computer, tablet or smart phone with access to the internet to complete the pre-course learning online.
You are assessed using oral questions, scenarios and simulations, the trainer will observe these as you demonstrate the required skills and knowledge. When the scenarios are completed, you will complete a Register of illness template on the scenarios you have completed.
The pre-course online learning assessment comprises multiple choice, true or false as well as click and drag questions.
The administration is closed on weekends and public holidays, though some classes may still be scheduled.
