This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to confirm collection requirements, prepare client and equipment and collect specimens via urine and/or oral and breath testing following the special procedures that apply for drugs of abuse testing.
This unit applies to individuals working in collection centres, in hospitals, in other health care environments and workplaces where drugs of abuse testing takes place.
The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards and industry codes of practice.

Pre-Course Learning
Our course is blended with a compulsory pre-course theory component. Once you have registered for your course, a Student manual and the pre-course assessment paperwork will be emailed to you. This must be completed prior to attending the face-to-face component of the course. You will need to bring it with you on the day for the Trainer to mark.
Course Time
Face to face training is approx. 5 hours
Estimated time required for the pre-course workbook is up to 3 hours.

What should I wear?
We recommend that you wear comfortable clothing as there are practical components to the assessments.

Assessment
There are both theory and practical assessment in this course to ensure that you have gained the required knowledge and ability to perform the skills in this unit.
